For one afternoon on May 26th 2016, Zurich luxury hotel The Dolder Grand became alive with the invitation-only Haute Couture showcase of AMSLER & Jean Luc Amsler‘s “Surréaliste” collection in collaboration with Goralska Joaillerie.
Take a look…
Fashionistas, media, and other special guests came to experience Couture first hand. Our goal was not to purchase anything but to indulge in the work of art and the craftsmanship bestowed upon us.
Aside from the sumptuous venue, the presentation itself was awe-inspiring. Rather than use real life models, Jean Luc Amsler used mannequins to reveal his creations and it worked beautifully. It actually gave it a whimsical air.
Before we delve into the story behind the “Surréaliste” collection, who is Jean Luc Amsler?
The Swiss couturier began his career collaborating with the most well-known Haute Couture names in the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Courreges and Jean Louis Scherrer to name a few. He even received an Award for Best Designer in Beijing, 2015.
Early on Jean Luc Amsler affirmed his very distinct signature style and got recognized for it worldwide. He is inspired by the most noble and sophisticated materials and especially relates to the night when ladies elevate into true heroines.
Surréaliste Collection
Amsler’s “Surréaliste” collection was inspired by Anne-Marie Schwarzenbach, Swiss writer and adventurer, also known to be avant-garde, elegant, complex, rebellious, romantic, delightful, and much more. Her androgynous and unconventional beauty led Jean Luc Amsler to create those theatrical, excessive and romantic silhouettes. Anne Marie Schwarzenbach was a jewel of contemporary beauty and timeless elegance.
