Last weekend the girls and I (Filis, Nicole, Nancy , Crystal) got to experience an evening of pampering at Art Deco Hotel Montana in Lucerne, SPA AND THE CITY style!
I am quite familiar with Lucerne since I have family there but also got to spend some time with the Directors of The Palace and Schweizerhof hotels. But I had no idea that there was such a jewel of a hotel hiding on top of the hills! The Art Deco Hotel Montana really surprised me. Not only is the location breath-taking but the decor, atmosphere, hospitality and gourmet cuisine (Scala awarded 15 GaultMillau points) are also quite singular for a four star hotel in that region.
Before I share my SPA AND THE CITY experience, I will give you a quick tour of the hotel.
ABOUT
Built in 1909-1910, on the former site of the «Nidlenpalast», the Hotel Montana was one of the last classical style hotels to be built in Lucerne. After years of turbulence due to war and depression, the hotel had to renovate and reinvente itself to meet the high standards of a four star hotel. Since then it never ceased to get revamped to remain competitive. Fritz Erni, Director of the hotel since 1996, is an example of a trendsetter and innovator who is not afraid to push boundaries to stand out. Today, The Art Deco Hotel Montana was rated Switzerland’s best 4-star city hotel for four consecutive years (2012 – 2015) in the «SonntagsZeitung» and «Bilanz» hotel ratings.

IN THE ROOM
My room was modern and elegant with a lot of space to move around and be comfortable. What struck me the most upon entering was the large windows opening to a terrasse overlooking the lake of Lucerne, its surrounding mountains and boats passing by.
KITCHENCLUB
One of my favorites and a Never Seen in Switzerland! Basically you and your guests (up to 20) get to sit literally at the kitchen table and watch the chefs prepare your dishes right in front of your eyes. Again another way to emerge as an Innovator.
And if you have a table reserved at the restaurant Scala, you and your guests get to start your evening with an Apero at the degustation counter in the kitchen, again watching your meals getting prepared.
And now off to the best part – my all girls night out!
SPA AND THE CITY
This program is probably one of the most fun and creative ideas coming from a hotel in Switzerland, generally known to be quite conservative. Once again Director Fritz Erni has displayed courage, innovation and forward thinking. This to me is the ideal way to spend quality and fun time with my girlfriends without having to worry about planning an entire evening going from place to place.
As some of us were either chilling in the hot tub or sipping on champagne while savoring the apero, others were relaxing under the care of the masseuse and manicurist. Not so bad! And best of all, we had our own and personal Sexy Butler who was there to conform to all of our wishes (within reasons of course!)
Basically, Spa and the city is a One Stop shop for girls who want to have fun while being catered to 🙂
