A new year, a new fashion show and a new perspective on style and trends. Mode Suisse, Edition 13 was at its best this season. It took all its past learnings and turned them into an opportunity to rise high and try new things. In the past, I felt cramped and uncomfortable while watching the runway shows. This year, Mode Suisse divided the shows into different segments followed by a personal glimpse into the world of each collection.
As always, A-listers of Switzerland and fashionistas alike showed up prepared and eager – ready to scope out the scene but really longing to show off their own mad style! We all wanted to be seen and enjoy a moment of glitz and glamour while hoping to be “discovered” by one of the professional photographers and press.
Mode Suisse seems to have its own protegés since they keep coming back season after season. Those include Collective Swallow, Garnison, Head – Geneve, Lyn Lingerie and Weer. And some new ones like talented Julia Heuer best known for her dynamic prints and artisanal, handmade plissé, Rafael Kuoto and Mourjjan, epitome of femininity and beauty.
Fashion, as all Art, is subjective – its beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, most designs didn’t grab me as much as I would have like to hut nevertheless I appreciated the effort and out of the box thinking that went into creating them.
