I was so lucky to have moved to Zurich in the middle of July during the best summer the city had experienced in a few years. Zurich is one of those under the radar, discrete cities that one would never think of when planning a summer vacation. And I think it’s so revealing of the culture in general – layers and layers of discovery!
Needless to say Zurich is Happening in the summer! There is something for everybody – hipster cool spots, jet-setter invite only parties, outdoor activities for families, and so much more. But always with the river and/or lake as its center piece.
So start planning your evenings and weekends now!

By far this must be one of the coolest and hippest river pools in the city. If you want to see and be seen then this is your spot. They offer a wide range of events and activities, every night of the week, rain or shine (summer only). And their annual opening party is not to be missed – it will set the tone for the rest of your summer! And best of all, the entry is Free!! (unheard of in Zurich!)

A pool built into the lake! How cool is that? Seebad Enge offers a myriad of things to do during the day – from yoga, massages, hot sauna to Live music in the evenings. I usually like to go around 4pm with friends, order a nice chilled glass of Rose and bask in the breathtaking view while the sun sets. And again, best of all, the entry is Free!

Mykonos Party
The Mykonos Party sets the tone for summer and it does it right! Get your tickets as soon as the box office opens otherwise they will sell out. Put on your hottest white outfit and bring your inner dancer with you because you’ll need it!

Rundfunk brings the radio to life every summer for about 2 months. The best DJs round up in the evenings for thousands of people’s pleasure. The location has moved a few times but it seems like they have now settled on Geroldstrasse in Kreis 5. And for those who can’t make it to the physical parties but want to hear the music, the event is streamed live on the radio.

This is our spot on Sunday afternoons when the sun is shining and the heat blasting. Nothing like listening to lounge music at the terrace looking into the Alps. And for the hungry ones, the restaurant offers delightful fish dishes accompanied by seasonal products from the market.
